Freese-Notis Global Internet Completes Client Upgrade
Auction Outlet of Iowa Uses Image Processing System to Quickly Generate Pictures of Auction Items DES MOINES, IOWA – Freese-Notis Global Internet today announced that it had completed an upgrade of the web services of Des Moines-based Auction Outlet of Iowa. The upgrade enables the quick generation of pictures for items to be auctioned at one of Auction Outlet's weekly sales. Auction Outlet staff now simply take pictures of items with a digital camera, create a listing on the web system and upload the photo. FNGI's Image Processing System automatically creates thumbnail and detail images and properly reformats and enhances the photo for web viewing. "This new system from Freese-Notis really changes how I promote our auctions," said Jerry Hoffman, co-founder of Auction Outlet. "Before, we had to reformat the images by hand, which was laborious and time consuming. Now, we just take the picture, tell the system what the item is and it does the rest. We can now put up details on ten items in the time it took us to do one in the past." FNGI also added an enhanced E-mail system so that subscribers to Auction Outlet's Wire Service get automatic notification of upcoming auctions once they are posted. Auction Outlet staff simply press a button and a message is sent out to subscribers with details on how to get auction information. In addition, a new Store area was added to the web site for unusual items that are for sale at a fixed price.
